FACTA 2021
Sunday 14 November – Wednesday 17 November 2021
The Calile Brisbane, Queensland

President’s Welcome

Dr Dimitri Gerostamoulos,
FACTA President

Dear FACTA members, associates, students and colleagues,

We're under five months away now from hosting our 11th FACTA Meeting at The Calile Hotel in Brisbane from 14-17 November 2021. We encourage you all to register early and submit your abstracts as we anticipate that it will be a sell-out event. A reminder that abstract submission close 30 August 2021 and Early Bird Registration ends 17 September 2021. We have not changed our affordable registration rate for many years now and as always aim for our meetings to be as cost effective as possible for our membership. This is in part possible due to the generous backing we receive form our sponsors who have been tremendous in continuing to support FACTA throughout a very challenging 12 months - we can’t wait to engage with them once again in Brisbane.

We are working towards finalising the Scientific Programme and we have an exciting agenda planned for our first in-person meeting for over two years! We have revised our Programme given the difficulties associated with travelling to Australia and Professor Marilyn Huestis will still be able to provide her keynote lecture. In addition to Dr Matthew Doane, we have also engaged Dr. Samuel Bannister and A/Prof Dr. Vicki Kotsirilos – please see our Keynote Speakers page for more details. Our colleagues from NZ are now also able to travel to Australia and we look forward to hosting as many of them as possible.

The meeting will commence on Sunday 14 November with our opening Welcome Reception being held at The Calile Hotel Rooftop (The Amphitheatre) between 5-7pm; there is also a Conference Dinner planned for the evening of Tuesday 16 November at the superb Hellenika Restaurant. Tickets to both social evenings are included within the registration fee. A reminder that we have locked in an exclusive rate for FACTA delegates at the five-star boutique conference hotel for $255/night. There is also ample accommodation in the surrounding area and city, all very close to the venue. We have limited capacity at this hotel so again I would encourage all of you to register and book accommodation early to avoid disappointment.

Our conference team ICMS Australasia have worked very hard to ensure we have a great meeting. FACTA travel grants are also available to our members – so please apply if you are eligible, see details here.

If you would like any more information please contact any of the FACTA Committee on secretary@facta.org.au or any of our conference team.

See you in Brisbane!

Dr Dimitri Gerostamoulos
